Avira AntiVir Personal is free of charge and it has been awarded due to its excellent protection despite being a freeware. It constantly scans the computer for malicious programs whether it’s viruses, Trojans, backdoor programs, worms, malware etc. Even better it monitors every action executed by the user or the operating system and takes prompt action when a malicious program is detected.
The quarantine feature is very meticulous. It presents a spreadsheet layout which displays relevant information about the quarantined files, and gives the user options to re-scan it, restore, delete, and more. It also has direct access with detailed information on the detected viruses and malware via the Internet
The scheduler is fully customizable. And virus definition files are available at their web site if needed. The help features are excellent, as well, with a description box relating mouse-over information on each feature.
Finally it offers high-performance functions, meaning simultaneous high-speed scanning of multiple files and is compatible to all Windows systems including Vista. |
